TITLE

Recommendation to authorize Department of Development Services to process a refund in the amount of $11,182 to Saram Lim for the property located at 1064-1066 East Anaheim Street.  (District 6)

 

DISCUSSION

On June 27, 2013, Saram Lim (Applicant) paid fees totaling $12,803 to cover expenses and fees related to permits for tenant improvements at 1064-1066 East Anaheim Street. The Applicant did not undertake the improvements and has withdrawn the application prior to a significant review of the proposed project. In accordance with Long Beach Municipal Code (LBMC) Section 3.48.030, the Applicant is eligible for a refund of $11,182.

 

In accordance with LBMC Section 3.48.040, which requires that refunds exceeding $10,000 be approved by the City Attorney and City Council, authorization to process the refund is requested on behalf of the Applicant.

 

This matter was reviewed by Assistant City Attorney Michael Mais on February 1, 2016 and by Budget Management Officer Victoria Bell on February 5, 2016.

 

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS

City Council action is requested on February 23, 2016, to expedite processing of the refund.

 

FISCAL IMPACT

The amount of $11,182 will be refunded from the Development Services Fund (EF 337) in the Department of Development Services (DV). There is no local job impact associated with this recommendation.

 

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.
