Recommendation to authorize City Manager to execute an agreement with the City of Desert Hot Springs to furnish and install radio-related equipment and other emergency equipment in six police vehicles.

DISCUSSION
The Technology Services Department (TSD) provides installation, maintenance and
repair services for wireless communications systems and equipment. TSD customers
include City of Long Beach (City) departments and outside agencies on a contractual
basis. Currently, TSD "contracts-in" radio maintenance with Long Beach Transit, St.
Mary Medical Center, Long Beach Unified School District, Long Beach Community
College, and the City of Cerritos.
1 The City of Desert Hot Springs has requested the City furnish and install radios, radio
consoles, mobile data terminals and related equipment (MDTs) as well as light bars in
six police vehicles. Desert Hot Springs would bring their vehicles to our facility. The
proposed rate for services is $75 per hour. Equipment and parts provided would be
charged at cost plus 20 percent for indirect costs. These rates are market rates and the
City of Desert Hot Springs has indicated that they are acceptable.
It is projected that the City would recover sufficient revenue to cover all anticipated
direct and indirect costs associated with providing the service. The additional workload
would not impact service provided to existing customers.
