TITLE

Recommendation to receive and approve the reappointment of Emily Holman to the Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District’s Board of Trustees, for term beginning January 3, 2022.  (Citywide)

 

DISCUSSION

The City of Long Beach is currently represented on the Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District’s Board of Trustees (Board) by Emily Holman. In 2017, Emily was appointed by the City Council to fill an interim term on the Board through 2021. Emily currently serves as Board Vice President and if reappointed, will transition to the role of Board President.

 

An epidemiologist by training, Emily has more than a decade of experience working in public health and has extensive knowledge about vector-borne diseases in Long Beach. Before becoming a Public Health Advisor for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Emily served as the City of Long Beach Communicable Disease Controller.

 

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Amy R. Webber on November 8, 2021 and by Budget Operations and Development Officer Rhutu Amin Gharib on November 9, 2021.

 

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS

City Council action is requested on December 7, 2021, to reappoint Emily Holman to the Board for term beginning January 3, 2022.

 

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation has no staffing impact beyond the normal budgeted scope of duties and is consistent with existing City Council priorities. There is no fiscal or local job impact associated with this recommendation.

Approve recommendation.
