TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $2,000, offset by the Fifth Council District One-Time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to the Long Beach City College Foundation in support of the Community Concert held on August 18, 2023; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $2,000 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION

Councilwoman Megan Kerr would like to support the Community Concert scheduled for Friday, August 18, 2023, at Long Beach City College. This inaugural event aims to bring the community together for a time to celebrate the summer. These funds assist with offsetting expenses related to this free community concert.

This matter has been reviewed by Recovery Budget Officer, Dee Okam on July 24, 2023.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution of $2,000 to the Long Beach City College Foundation in support the event as written above. The total appropriation increase of $2,000 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of Fifth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. This recommendation is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have a minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.  There is no local job impact associated with this recommendation.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,

MEGAN KERR COUNCILWOMAN,

FIFTH DISTRICT
