DISCUSSION
City Council approval is being requested to enter into an annual contract to furnish and deliver engine parts and overhauled Turbomeca helicopter engines, as well as provide field repair services to support the City's Police helicopter maintenance program.

The Public Works Department, Fleet Services Bureau, provides daily preventive maintenance and repairs for the airframe and engine for both of the City's Police helicopters.
The engines on the helicopters must be overhauled every 3500 hours of flight, at a cost of approximately $280,000 per engine. Based on flight time estimates, one overhauled engine will be purchased during the first term of this contract. In addition, various parts and engine repair services are expected for normal repair and preventive maintenance.
