DISCUSSION
In November 2007, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine submitted multiple projects for Step 1 of the San Gabriel and Lower Los Angeles Rivers and Mountains Conservancy (RMC) grant application process. The RMC ranked all submitted applications for projects that are ready for funding into Tier 1, and projects that are of merit but are not ready for funding into Tier 2. Of the submitted applications, the West San Gabriel River Walk Project was selected as a Tier 1 project, and three other projects were selected as Tier 2 projects. Tier 1 applications are due May 23, 2008 and Tier 2 applications are due June 6, 2008. The Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine is requesting approval to formally submit the following applications to the RMC for Step 2 funding:

Tier 1:
. West San Gabriel River Walk Proiect (District 5): The project will provide for the
development of unused open space next to the western levee of the San Gabriel
River between Spring Street and Willow Street into a passive park with walkways
and native landscaping.

Tier 2:
. Pacific Electric Riqht of Way (PE ROW) Greenway Acquisition Proiect (District 6):
The project will expand the land available along the former Pacific Electric Rightof-Way
