TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Manager to execute a Public Walkways Occupancy Permit for sidewalk dining at Gaucho Grill, located at 200 Pine Avenue, Suite B. (District 2)
DISCUSSION
The operator of Gaucho Grill, located at 200 Pine Avenue, Suite B, requests a permit to temporarily occupy a part of the adjoining sidewalk for the purpose of sidewalk dining. The proposed permit area and a list of furnishings and accessories to be placed in the permit area are shown on the attached. Approval of this permit is based on the conditions and standards of Chapter 14.14 of the Long Beach Municipal Code, which describes temporary uses of public rights-of-way. The width of the sidewalk at this location varies between 12 and 22 feet wide. A minimum clearance of 6 feet is to be maintained between the permit area and other sidewalk fixtures.
This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Linda Trang on August 18, 2010 and by Budget Management Officer Victoria Bell on August 18, 2010. This permit request was reviewed and approved by the Long Beach Fire Department on July 13, 2010.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action on this matter is not time critical.
FISCAL IMPACT
A permit-processing fee of $546 was deposited into the General Fund (GP) in the Department of Public Works (PW). Approval of this permit may have a positive impact on local jobs.
