TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $5,500, offset by the Fifth Council District One-Time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to:
· $2,500 to Historical Society of Long Beach in support of the 27th
Annual Cemetery Tour;
· $1,500 to Long Beach Ballet in support of the Cal Heights
Neighborhood Tree Lighting;
· $1,000 to Long Beach BLAST in support of their Hallo'WINE
BLAST;
· $500 to The Fix Project in support of the howl-o-ween Gala; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $5,500 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
Councilwoman Megan Kerr would like to support the following events and community programing:
· Historical Society of Long Beach in support of the 27th Annual Cemetery Tour at the Sunnyside and Municipal Cemetries on Saturday, October 28, 2023. This annual event educates the community on the history of Long Beach and its residents.
· In conjunction with the California Heights Neighborhood, the Long Beach Ballet will host a free Neighborhood Holiday Tree Lighting on Thursday, November 30, 2023; in California Heights. This event is an inaugural event with grand festivities to include: holiday shopping, holiday treats, kids and Family activities, musical performances, booths from our local businesses and activities for the neighborhood children.
· Long Beach BLAST (Better Learning for All Students Together) in support of the Hallo’Wine Blast on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. This annual event supports the organization’s mission to improve academic and personal success for Long Beach youth through collaboration and innovative approaches to mentoring and learning.
