DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into a contract with Pedal Movement, LLC, to operate and maintain the Long Beach Bike Share Program (Program), including operations, maintenance, balancing, and repair of Bike Share bicycles, and ongoing Program marketing.

The Program was launched in April 2017. The City’s current Program consists of over 30,000 active members and 400 bicycles, with the potential to expand to 1,000 bicycles in 2019.

The RFP was advertised in the Long Beach Press-Telegram on April 13, 2018, and 5,870 potential proposers were notified of the opportunity. Of those proposers, 21 downloaded the RFP via the City’s electronic bid system. The RFP was made available from the Purchasing Division, located on the seventh floor of City Hall, and the Division’s website at www.longbeach.gov/purchasing . An RFP announcement was also included in the Purchasing Division’s weekly update of Open Bid Opportunities, which is sent to 28 local, minority, and women-owned business groups.
