DISCUSSION
Since 1974, the City of Long Beach (City) has been providing services to improve family wellness at four geographically placed facility centers located at the: Central Facilities Center, 1133 Rhea Street; North Facilities Center, 6335 Myrtle Avenue; West Facilities Center, 2125 Santa Fe Avenue; and, Miller Family Health Education Center, 3820 Cherry Avenue.

In addition to City services, community-based services have been provided by a variety of local non-profit agencies that occupy office space at these sites through Facility Use Permits. Agencies utilizing space at these various facilities are required to be non-profit agencies, and must address a critical need at the local level. Space is provided on a first-come, first-served basis, based upon availability. All agencies must meet City insurance requirements.

The New Hope Academy of Change (NHAC) is requesting to enter into a Facility Use Permit for space located at the Central Facilities Center. The NHAC is aligned with the health and community service needs of the central area and is dedicated to improving the lives of underserved “at-risk” youth in the central area of Long Beach.
