Recommendation to receive and file report on the League of California Cities 2006 Mayors and Council Members Academy Executive Forum and Advanced Leadership Workshops on July 26-July 29 in Monterey, CA.
DISCUSSION
I would like to take this opportunity to report to the City Council on the League of
California Cities 2006 Mayors and Council members Academy Executive Forum
and Advanced Leadership Workshops on July 26-29 at the Monterey Conference
Center in Monterey, CA.
Some of the topics addressed during this Forum included:
- Youth Commissions
- Effective Leadership skills
- Health Children, Healthy Futures
- Development in floodplains: What elected officials need to know to
make informed decisions
Roles of Commissions and Commissioners
Public Service Ethics Laws and Principles
I also attended a workshop on Redevelopment and building better communities.
All issues covered in this forum were of benefit to the City of Long Beach and
will ensure that the needs of our city remain foremost with the League of
California Cities.
