TITLE

Recommendation to receive and file report on travel to Washington, D.C., for a Federal Legislation Committee trip in March 2017.

DISCUSSION

From March 26^th - 28^th, I travelled to Washington, D.C., as Chair of the Federal Legislation Committee with Committee Member Roberto Uranga.

Along with City staff, we were able to meet with Congressional and Senate representatives, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the White House Office of Urban Affairs and Revitalization to discuss the East San Pedro Bay Ecosystem Restoration Feasibility Study, as well as convey support for continued allocation of Community Development Block Grant and HOME Program funds to Long Beach. The Federal Legislation Committee also spoke with members and federal agency staff about the importance of maintaining a robust Housing Choice Voucher Program at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

There is no fiscal impact to file this report.
