TITLE

Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to pay sum of $6,392.75 in full settlement of Claim No. C10-0166, Long Beach Transit v. City of Long Beach.

DISCUSSION

On January 20, 2010, a Long Beach police officer, responding to a call for assistance, came in contact with a parked Long Beach Transit bus.  The cost to repair the bus totaled $6,392.75.

Following settlement discussions with Plaintiff's counsel, Plaintiff has agreed to settle this matter for $6,392.75.  The proposed settlement was presented to the Economic Development and Finance Committee on June 1, 2010, and was approved on that date.  We therefore ask authority to pay the sum of $6,392.75 in full settlement of this claim.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.
