TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Manager, or designee, to execute an agreement, and any necessary documents, subcontracts, and subsequent amendments, including amendments to the award amount or agreement term, with Pacific Gateway Workforce Partnership, Inc., to accept and expend grant funding in an amount up to $300,000 as part of the Prologis Community Workforce Initiative - Phase II project, for the period of September 10, 2021, through May 31, 2023. DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to accept and expend up to $300,000 from the Pacific Gateway Workforce Partnership, Inc., to manage overall project implementation, including communications, activities and fiscal management as part of the Prologis Community Workforce Initiative (CWI) - Phase II project.
The City of Long Beach (City), through the Pacific Gateway Workforce Innovation Network (Pacific Gateway), partnered with the Pacific Gateway Workforce Partnership, Inc., the non-profit organization, to administer the Prologis Community Workforce Initiative in partnership with Jobs For the Future (JFF). Through this initiative, Pacific Gateway will engage in a range of activities to provide training, coaching, and job placement in the transportation, distribution and logistics industry in support of the project. The activities include:
· Learning Platform Review and Administer Training;
· Regional Mobilization Campaigns and Learner Engagement;
· Completion Support;
· Job Placement;
· Prologis Customer Connections;
· Technical Assistance; and
· Reporting and Data Collection.
Pacific Gateway administers the Federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and other employment and training funds received annually by the City.
