TITLE
Recommendation to adopt minute order to grant application of Mildred Rose Moffitt for a widow's pension.
 
BODY
We are in receipt of an application from Mildred Rose Moffittfor a widow's pension.  Willis Jefferson Moffitt, who died on or about the 16th day of June, 2006, was a retired Fire Engineer in the Long Beach Fire Department, having retired from active duty on December 31, 1977. Mrs. Moffitt has filed an application for a widow's pension under the provisions of Subsection (4) of Section 187 of the Charter of the City of Long Beach prior to its repeal.
 
We are of the opinion that Mildred Rose Moffitt is entitled to a widow's pension.  We are transmitting herewith the declaration of Mrs. Moffitt and a form of minute order to be adopted by your honorable body granting Mildred Rose Moffitt a widow's pension effective June 17,2006.
 
SUGGESTED ACTION
Approve recommendation.
