TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Manager to award a sole source contract to Palp, Inc., dba Excel Paving, in an estimated amount of $900,000 plus a 25 percent contingency amount, if necessary, for emergency repairs needed for Taxiway Delta. (District 5)
DISCUSSION
Taxiway Delta is showing signs of pavement separation that need to be addressed at this time to insure the safety of the aircraft utilizing this taxiway. A contract has been negotiated with Excel Paving to perform this work in a timely manner. Excel Paving has performed similar work for the airport and is prepared to begin these repairs immediately.
This matter was reviewed by City Attorney Robert Shannon on May 29, 2008 and by Budget Management Officer Victoria Bell on May 30, 2008.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action on this matter is requested on June 17, 2008 in order to make these repairs as soon as possible. Construction is projected to begin in July 2008 and should take approximately 60 working days.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding for this emergency repair work is coming from passenger facility charges and is budgeted in the Airport Enterprise Fund (EF320).
