TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to submit Stipulations with Requests for Awards for approval by the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board, and if so approved, authority to pay $111,562.50 for Stipulations with Request for Award, and $38.65 per week for a Life Pension for the claim of Roland Bell; and $125,005 for Stipulations with Request for Award, and $88.90 per week for a Life Pension for the claim of Herbert Smith in compliance with the Appeals Board Orders.
DISCUSSION
Roland Bell has made a claim for injuries allegedly sustained in the course of his employment with the City of Long Beach. The Economic Development and Finance Committee on October 2, 2007, approved the submission to the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board of Stipulations with Request for Award by the City and Roland Bell, based upon 1) a 70 percent disability rating, and 2) a further provision for a Life Pension at the rate of $38.65 per week. Finally, there would be a provision for lifetime medical care as may be necessary.
Herbert Smith has made a claim for injuries allegedly sustained in the course of his employment with the City of Long Beach. The Economic Development and Finance Committee on October 2, 2007, approved the submission to the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board of Stipulations with Request for Award by the City and Herbert Smith, based upon 1) an 83 percent disability rating, and 2) a further provision for a Life Pension at the rate of $88.90 per week after the permanent disability has been paid. Finally there would be a provision for lifetime medical care as may be necessary.

Approve recommendation.
