Recommendation to approve proclamation presented for Arts Month, October 2005.
DISCUSSION
mi, Arts and cultural activities presented by artists and organizations throughout
Long Beach add balance to the everyday lives of our citizens, enriching us all with an
appreciation of the beauty, howledge and creativity that is at the core of the human spirit;
and
m m , Long Beach's rich cultural legacy and the diverse heritage of our popuiation are
treasures we celebrate throughout the year in small and large neighborhoods throughout the
city; and
through the observation of October Is Arts Month, special emphasis is given to
the benefits we receive individually and collectively from visual, performing, folk and
traditional arts, and all forms of cultural expression;
&m WfmG 1, Beverly O'Neill, Mayor of the City of Long Beach, do hereby
proclaim the month of October, 2005, as October Is Arts Month in Long Beach and
encourage all citizens to participate in arts and cultural activities and to honor those
individuals and organizations that make them possible.
