TITLE
Recommendation to request City Manager and City Attorney advise the City Council during the regular City Council meeting or closed session regarding public transportation issues related to State mandated breaks; and what the City Council is authorized to do to protect the ridership of the City of Long Beach.
DISCUSSION
It has recently come to our attention that changes in state law regarding breaks
for employees have had a significant impact on transit operations, operators and
potentially transit service in our city. Additionally there are possible discussions
that may include layoffs, which could also impact service delivery in the city. The
availability and efficiency of public transit services is of concern to many Long
Beach residents.
