TITLE
Recommendation to request City Manager to prepare a report on increasing meth-amphetamine use, its correlation with the increase in STD rates, and what is being done to address these trends in Long Beach.

DISCUSSION
In light of the recent series of stories in the Press Telegram on Meth-
amphetamine and the high correlation between its use and increasing rates of
sexually transmitted disease infection - including HIV - I think it is important for
our Health Department to discuss the programs in place to work with at-risk
populations to try to reduce drug use and unprotected sex.
