TITLE
Recommendation to refer to City Manager to meet with the appropriate agencies to evaluate the possibility of installing sidewalks connecting Island Village to local shopping centers as part of the mitigating efforts of the Department of Water and Power.

DISCUSSION
For many years the homeowners of Island Village have not had the ability to safely walk to The Marketplace and local shopping centers without experiencing freeway-like traffic hazards on thoroughfares such as Second Street and Pacific Coast Highway.

As a result, an opportunity may be presenting itself with the reconstruction of the electric generating facilities owned by the Los Angels Department of Water and Power (DWP) across from the Island Village subdivision. DWP has expressed interest in cooperating with our City and the County in an effort to assist the Island Village residel.lts with the effects of DWP project.

Suggested Action:

Refer to City Manager to meet with the appropriate agencies to evaluate the possibility of installing sidewalks connecting Island Village to local shopping centers as part of the mitigating efforts of DWP.
