TITLE
Recommendation to authorize a public walkways occupancy permit for sidewalk dining at Trimana Grill located at 95 Pine Avenue. (District 2)
DISCUSSION
High Rise Goodies Restaurant Group, Inc., the operator of the Trimana Grill located at
95 Pine Avenue, requests permission to temporarily occupy part of the adjoining
sidewalk in conjunction with their private outdoor patio area. The previous restaurant at
this location, Portofino, had a permit for sidewalk dining in the area requested now, and
the awnings and barricades will remain from that operation.
The proposed permit area and a list of furnishings and accessories providing for two
tables to be placed in the permit area are shown on the attached Exhibit A. Approval of
this permit is based on the conditions and standards of Chapter 14.14 of the Long
Beach Municipal Code, which describes temporary uses of public rights-of-way. The
width of the public sidewalk along Pine Avenue is twenty-four feet at this location.
Nineteen feet of sidewalk are to remain open to pedestrians.
This permit request was reviewed and approved by the Long Beach Fire Department on
June 23, 2005. The subject permit was prepared by Deputy City Attorney Lisa Peskay
Malmsten on October 7 , 2005.

FISCAL IMPACT
A permit processing fee of $500 was deposited to the General Fund (GP) in the
Department of Public Works (PW).
