TITLE
Recommendation to adopt resolution to authorize certain City officials to execute documents pertaining to financial assistance for costs incurred for declared disasters by the State and Federal Governments. (Citywide)
DISCUSSION
The California Emergency Management Agency (CalEMA) requires that each city and county seeking aid for a declared disaster provide a Resolution that declares the positions of officials that are authorized to act as designated City agents. Recently, CalEMA amended its procedures to require an updated Resolution and Form OES 130 every three years. The City of Long Beach last provided this documentation to CalEMA in November 2003.
This matter has been reviewed by Assistant City Attorney Heather A. Mahood on June 6, 2011 and Budget Management Officer Victoria Bell on June 17, 2011.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action on this item is requested for July 12, 2011 in order to provide CalEMA with the updated information.
FISCAL IMPACT
The submission of this Resolution and Form OES 130 will enable the City to recover costs associated with the December 2010 winter storm.
