TITLE
Recommendation to adopt Specifications No. ITB PR20-066 (REBID) and award a contract to PumpMan, LLC, of Baldwin Park, CA, for furnishing and supplying irrigation, water and sewage pumps, in a total annual amount not to exceed $200,000, for a period of two years, with the option to renew for three additional one-year periods, at the discretion of the City Manager; and, authorize City Manager, or designee, to execute all documents necessary to enter into the contract, including any necessary amendments. DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into a contract with PumpMan, LLC, for the furnishing and supplying of irrigation, water and sewage pumps. Pumps will be purchased, as needed, to be utilized in various parks, open spaces, beaches, and marinas throughout the city by the Parks, Recreation and Marine Department (PRM).
ITB PR20-066 was previously bid in early FY 21, and to expand the bidder pool, it was rebid. The bid was advertised in the Long Beach Press-Telegram on March 26, 2021, and 226 potential bidders specializing in irrigation, water and sewage pumps were notified of the bid opportunity. Of those bidders, 36 downloaded the bid via the City’s electronic bid system. The bid document was made available from the Purchasing Division, located on the sixth floor of City Hall, and the Division’s website at www.longbeach.gov/purchasing
. A bid announcement was also included in the Purchasing Division’s weekly update of Open Bid Opportunities, which is sent to 35 local, minority-owned, and women-owned business groups. One bid was received on May 19, 2021. The one bidder is not a Minority-owned Business Enterprise (MBE), Women-owned Business Enterprise (WBE), certified Small Business Enterprise (SBE), or Long Beach vendor (Local). PumpMan, LLC, of Baldwin Park, CA (not an MBE, WBE, SBE, or Local), was the sole responsible bidder.
