TITLE
Recommendation to request City Attorney to draft a resolution in support of efforts to build a football stadium in the City of Carson.
DISCUSSION
The San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders have announced their interest in jointly constructing and operating a football stadium in the City of Carson and relocating their teams to the City of Carson subject to the approval of the National Football League.
The construction of a football stadium in the City of Carson will create economic benefits for surrounding cities, including increases to hotel, restaurant, and entertainment revenue in the City of Long Beach. The stadium project will also provide living wage jobs to surrounding residents during the construction period and for the long-term. As such, the City should adopt a resolution supporting the project. The Cities of Signal Hill and Bellflower, as well as the Gateway Cities Council of Government, are planning similar actions.
