DISCUSSION
I would like to take this opportunity to address the City Council on my recent travel to Sacramento on May 17, 2006 for the League of California Cities Annual Legislative Forum on California's Infrastructure Bond Proposal and Budget Update .

The forum featured Bond Conference Committee Co-Chair, John Laird, discussing proposals for an infrastructure bond measure, provide an update on bond negotiations, and give a status report of the proposed 2006-2007 Budget Bill.

Members of the Bond Conference Committee also shared key bond information in the areas of transportation, education, flood protection, and affordable housing. This forum covered many topics of benefit to the City of Long Beach by ensuring that the needs of our city remain foremost with the League of California Cities.

SUGGESTED ACTION
Approve recommendation.
