DISCUSSION
The Pacific Gateway Investment Network (Pacific Gateway) administers the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and other employment and training funds received annually by the City.  These funds support job training programs and business services delivered by the Career Transition Center, Youth Opportunity Center, Torrance Career Center, Harbor WorkSource Center, and selected community-based organizations to assist local residents in acquiring skills leading to employment in high demand occupations with local employers.

Pacific Gateway has completed the necessary procurement process to select service providers for Program Years (PY) 2012-2014 with an option for annual renewals in PY 2014-2015 and PY 2015-2016. The procurement process focused on institutions of higher education and training entities on the State's Eligibility Training Provider List that are in demand. In addition, staff continuously seeks partnerships with employers that are committed to provide both on-the-job and customized training to participants, as authorized under the WIA.  Services will be delivered onsite at Pacific Gateway facilities, training provider facilities, and/or at other community-based locations to both young adults and adult jobseekers.  In conjunction with these training investments, Pacific Gateway is augmenting its existing healthcare sector training program with Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, under the Health Sector Initiative through funds from the City of Los Angeles.  A request to convert the existing Blanket Purchase Order (BPO) into a contract is included below:
