TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $1,000, offset by First Council District One-time District Priority Funds, transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a donation to Willmore City Heritage Association to support the 2021 Willmore Slam Season of Live Arts and Music - Virtual Edition; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $1,000 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
The past year has tested our creativity and ways to find new avenues to come together. The Willmore City Heritage Association (WCHA) has been an active neighborhood association within the First District for years and has helped keep residents connected throughout the pandemic. In that tradition, WCHA has created a virtual event to celebrate summer, the arts, and live music while still keeping in mind that, although the spread of COVID-19 infection has slowed and vaccination has increased, there is still the pandemic to consider.
This matter has been reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on May 5, 2021.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
The Willmore SLAM events will begin in June 2021 and this funding will help facilitate the planning and organizing.
FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to Willmore City Heritage Association to support the 2021 Willmore Slam Season of Live Arts and Music - Virtual Edition. The total appropriation increase in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $1,000 will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of the First Council District General Fund Group One-time District Priority Funds in the Citywide Activities Department. Implementing this recommendation is expected to have a minimal impact on staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.
SUGGESTED ACTION
Approve recommendation.
