DISCUSSION
The City of Long Beach owns and operates three full-service marinas, including the Alamitos Bay Marina (Alamitos Bay), Long Beach Shoreline Marina (Shoreline Marina), and Rainbow Harbor/Rainbow Marina (Rainbow Marina), which are operated by the Parks, Recreation and Marine Department (PRM). To service these marinas, the City maintains two fueling docks, one in the Shoreline Marina and one in Alamitos Bay.

In September 2008, the Shoreline Marina fuel dock was closed as it did not meet current regulations. As a result, only the Alamitos Bay location is available for fueling needs. Recently, staff has been proceeding with the objective to remove and replace the UST and restore this facility to full operation. On August 3, 2010, City Council approved Contract No. 31822 with EFS West (Contractor) for Phase I of this project, which funded the removal of the existing non-compliant UST. Through this Council action, staff seeks to proceed with the replacement of the UST. Once these improvements are completed, the facility will be re-opened.
