TITLE

Recommendation to restate the recommendation approved by City Council on December 13, 2022, to correct the name of the recipient receiving the $2,000 donation of First Council District One-time District Priority Funds from Sowing Seeds of Change to Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs.

DISCUSSION

On December 13, 2022, City Council approved appropriation for a $2,000 donation to Sowing Seeds of Change to support establishing a more accessible urban farm site. The First Council District has submitted a request to correct the recipient of these funds. This donation will be used to provide workshops and trainings that help create more awareness and preparation for sustainable agriculture. Their learning experience opportunities are hands-on, and their efforts are aimed at making healthy foods more accessible to all of Long Beach.

This contribution will support their efforts of making their urban farm site become wheelchair accessible. This request aligns with the City’s efforts on inclusivity.

This matter has been reviewed by Budget Analyst Joe R. Guerrero on December 30, 2022.

FISCAL IMPACT

There is no fiscal impact, this is technical correction of the recipient of the $2,000 donation of First Council District One-time District Priority Funds from Sowing Seeds of Change to Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs. No appropriation is needed as it was approved by City Council on December 13, 2022. The requested action is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the normal budgeted scope of duties and expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,

MARY ZENDEJAS, COUNCILWOMAN
