DISCUSSION
On May 12, 2015, the City Council awarded a contract to Enterprise Fleet Management, Inc. for the lease of up to 20 vehicles for Police operations, in an annual amount not to exceed $155,000 for a period of four years. This contract allows the City to replace vehicles of various makes and models, as needed, over the contract period.

City Council approval is requested to extend the existing contract with Enterprise Fleet Management, Inc., for an additional 12-month period, in an amount not to exceed $123,075. Staff believe a five-year lease program on select leased vehicles will allow for maximum utility for Police operations, which require a diverse selection of vehicle options beyond what is in the existing fleet. The lease contract allows for vehicles to be selectively turned in and exchanged for another when that flexibility is required. Extending the use of existing leased vehicles also results in a savings to the City as opposed to leasing new replacements.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Taylor M. Anderson and Purchasing Agent Tara Yeats on April 18, 2019, and by Budget Management Officer Rhutu Amin Gharib on April 24, 2019.

SUSTAINABILITY

All leased vehicles are, or will be, compliant with current air quality regulations for the State of California and, if necessary, will be equipped with all required safety and security features. The maintenance of vehicles will be performed by the Fleet Services Bureau.
