DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to authorize the City Manager, to enter into a contract with Sully-Miller Contracting Company (Sully-Miller), for street improvements on 3rd Street and Broadway between Magnolia Avenue and Alamitos Avenue, which is in need of rehabilitation (Attachment A).

The rehabilitation work consists of roadway improvements and resurfacing of pavement on 3rd Street and Broadway. The project includes concrete work to repair curbs, gutters, and driveways, and may require tree trimming and/or root shaving at some locations. The project also includes sidewalk and curb ramp improvements to ensure Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance. In addition, nine intersections along these corridors will be upgraded with continental crosswalks to enhance pedestrian visibility.

The bid was advertised in the Long Beach Press-Telegram on April 5, 2017, and 4,626 potential bidders specializing in construction services were notified of the bid opportunity. Of those bidders, 101 downloaded the bid via the City's electronic bid system. The bid document was made available from the Purchasing Division, located on the seventh floor of City Hall, and the Division's website at www.longbeach.gov/purchasing.
