DISCUSSION
The City of Long Beach (City) has historically used outside professional firms, on an as-needed basis, to provide engineering and design services in support of various projects.

On August 17, 2010, the City Council authorized an as-needed contract with AECOM Technical Services, Inc., in an amount totaling $2,500,000. On April 23, 2013, the City Countil approved an amendment to extend the contract term to December 30, 2014 and increase the contract amount to $3,350,000. On December 16, 2014, the City Council approved an amendment to extend the contract term to December 30, 2015 and increase the contract amount to $3,850,000. On December 15, 2015, the City Council approved an amendment to extend the contract term to December 30, 2016.

City Council approval is requested to increase the contract authority by $1,000,000, for a revised total contract amount not to exceed $4,850,000, and extend the contract term by two years to December 30, 2018. Approval of this request will ensure that the City continues to utilize AECOM for as-needed engineering services for capital projects currently underway, which include the El Dorado Duck Pond Restoration Project, Greenbelt Improvements, Leeway Sailing Center, and Rainbow Lagoon Improvements.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Robin Zur Schmiede on May 24, 2016 and by Revenue Management Officer Julissa José-Murray on June 3, 2016.
