TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $500, offset by the Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide support to the Long Beach Century Club for their Mayor’s Trophy Charity Golf Tournament; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $500 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
The Long Beach Century Club is a non-profit organization that supports youth of Long Beach who are involved in sports. The mission since 1957 has been to support these athletes and teams when they require financial assistance to enhance program growth and the opportunity to compete. This support allows individuals and teams to compete all over the globe, often resulting in national and world championships. On September 14, 2023, the Long Beach Century Club will host their Mayor’s Trophy Charity Golf Tournament. A contribution to support this event will help augment their program support in areas such as local amateur sports, educational institutions, and the Special Olympics.

FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to the Long Beach Century Club for their Mayor’s Trophy Charity Golf Tournament. The total appropriation increase of $500 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease in appropriation of the Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund in the Citywide Activities Department. This recommendation is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.
