TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $500, offset by the Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide support to Wild West Women, Inc for their inaugural Long Beach Woman’s Fair; and

 

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $500 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

 

DISCUSSION

Wild West Women, Inc is a non-profit, public benefit organization that increases awareness of women’s achievements and their roles in history. On July 18, 2023, Wild West Women, Inc, in partnership with the Long Beach Suffrage 100 will be celebrating the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) Centennial by hosting the inaugural Long Beach Woman’s Fair. A contribution to support this event will help Wild West Women, Inc augment their programming and empowerment of women and girls by hosting numerous partners such as the Office of Equity, Resister Sisters, LB/OC Women Rising, Long Beach Historical Society and the Long Beach Suffrage 100 at the fair.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to Wild West Women, Inc to support their inaugural Long Beach Woman’s Fair. The total appropriation increase of $500 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease in appropriation of the Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund in the Citywide Activities Department. This recommendation is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.
