TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $1,500 offset by Seventh Council District One-Time District Priority Funds, transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a donation to Speak Up Empowerment Foundation, Inc. in support of the Single Mom Empowerment Forum on April 22, 2023; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $1,500 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
Councilmember Roberto Uranga would like to support the Single Mom Empowerment Forum, which benefits the Speak Up Empowerment Foundation, Inc. The Speak Up Empowerment Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) organization created in 2015 which provides resource connections, growth-based training, and support for single parent families, in particular those families headed by a single mom, based in Greater Long Beach, Los Angeles and surrounding areas.

FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to Speak Up Empowerment Foundation, Inc to support the Single Mom Empowerment Forum as written above. The total appropriation increase of $1,500 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of Seventh Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. The requested action is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the normal budgeted scope of duties and expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.
