Recommendation to declare ordinance amending the Long Beach Municipal Code by amending Section 2.03.065, relating to the confirmation procedure for Charter Commission appointments, read and adopted as read. (Citywide)
DISCUSSION
This Ordinance has been prepared and is submitted for your consideration. On February 21, 2023, the City Council adopted a resolution to revise the names, roles and responsibilities of City Council Standing Committees, Council Authorities and Special Committees. Due to such changes, the reference in Section 2.03.065 of the Long Beach Municipal Code to the Council Standing Committee responsible for the review of Charter Commission appointments is now outdated.
Therefore, this Ordinance proposes review of City Charter Commissioner appointments by whichever City Council Standing Committee is responsible for the review of Charter Commission appointments as part of its roles and responsibilities, and
A redline of changes made to Long Beach Municipal Code Section 2.03.065 is enclosed for your reference.
