TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $1,000, offset by the Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide support to The Little Lion Foundation (LLF) for their ongoing euthanasia-prevention efforts of small cats and kittens; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $1,000 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSIONThe Little Lion Foundation (LLF) is a volunteer-based team dedicated to saving cats and kittens in need. They focus on orphaned and medically challenged kittens. Their end goal is to find these animals a safe and permanent home. Recently, The Little Lion Foundation was called upon to assist the City’s Animal Care Services Bureau with an animal hoarding case. The LLF provided quarantine care for four weeks, and upon veterinarian clearance, all cats were adopted and/or transferred to rescue partners. A contribution to The Little Lion Foundation will supplement the use of resources for this recent case and will provide support for their continued services to the Long Beach community.

FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to The Little Lion Foundation (LLF) for their ongoing euthanasia-prevention efforts of small cats and kittens. The total appropriation increase of $1,000 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease in appropriation of the Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund in the Citywide Activities Department.
