TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $1,000, offset by the Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide support to Partners of Parks for their Sowing the Seeds event; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $1,000 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION

Partners of Parks is a non-profit, public benefit organization that supports parks, recreation, marine programs, and facilities in the City of Long Beach. On March 25, 2023, Partners of Parks will be hosting the 4th Annual Sowing the Seeds event at the El Dorado Nature Center in the Fourth Council District. A contribution to support this event will help Partners of Parks augment their program support in areas such as recreation classes and camps including swimming lessons, community-wide concerts, and Animal Care Services.

This matter has been reviewed by Budget Analyst Joe R. Guerrero on March 6, 2023.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to Partners of Parks to support their Sowing the Seeds event. The total appropriation increase of $1,000 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease in appropriation of the Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund in the Citywide Activities Department. This recommendation is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,

DARYL SUPERNAW COUNCILMAN,
