TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $500, offset by the Sixth Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to Speak Up Empowerment Foundation, Inc. to support their 7th Annual Ms. Single Mom Empowerment Forum; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $500 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
Speak Up Empowerment Foundation, Inc. (SUEF) will host its 7th Annual Ms. Single Mom Empowerment Forum on Saturday April 22, 2023. SUEF is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide access to resources, training and support for female-headed single-parent families in the Greater Long Beach Area and surrounding communities. The 7th Annual Ms. Single Mom Empowerment Forum is SUEF’s pre-Mother’s Day celebration. The goal of the event is to celebrate and uplift single moms by offering single-parent female-headed families a full day of access to empowering business, educational, financial, family, health/wellness, and legal speakers along with other relevant resources.

FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to Speak Up Empowerment Foundation, Inc. to support their 7th Annual Ms. Single Mom Empowerment Forum on Saturday April 22, 2023. The total appropriation increase of $500 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of Sixth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. The requested action is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.
