DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into a contract with Wastequip Manufacturing Company, LLC, to purchase metal bins for solid waste collection required to service both multi-family residential and commercial solid waste City of Long Beach’s (City) accounts. Currently, refuse generated by multi-family residences and commercial businesses are stored in refuse bins at the account locations and collected by the City, at a minimum of once per week. The bins vary in size, including 2, 3 and 4-yard bins. These bins are needed throughout the year when new accounts are opened or expanded and as a replacement for bins that are no longer repairable or useable. These bins are necessary equipment needed for multi-family residential and commercial business accounts.

The Purchasing Division and the Department of Public Works - Environmental Services Bureau, researched procurement options for metal bins for solid waste collection and discovered other agencies had completed an open, fair, transparent, and competitive procurement process.
