TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $200, offset by the Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to the Friends of the Long Beach Public Library for their Celebrate Our Librarians event; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $200 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION

The Long Beach Public Library Foundation and the Friends of the Long Beach Public Library are hosting the 2022 Celebrate Our Librarians event. The Long Beach Public Library would not be a nationally recognized institution making a difference in the lives of countless individuals through Long Beach without the hard work and creativity of the amazing librarians.

This item has been reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on July 25, 2022.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to Friends of the Long Beach Public Library for their Celebrate Our Librarians event. The total appropriation increase of $200 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. This recommendation is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and have a minimal impact on City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.
