TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $250, offset by the Fifth Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a donation to the Long Beach Friends of the Library to support the 2022 Library Recognition Event; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $250 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
The Long Beach Friends of the Library, in collaboration with the Long Beach Public Library Foundation, annually hosts a recognition event to acknowledge the important work performed by our city’s librarians. Long Beach Libraries are a free and safe educational space for our residents and children and our professional and trained staff often go above and beyond to provide materials and programs to the community, particularly during the challenges faced over the previous two years. Planned for August 26th, this annual recognition event will celebrate the many staff who work to maintain our Library system.
This matter has been reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on July 13, 2022.
FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to Long Beach Friends of the Library to support the 2022 Library Recognition Event. The total appropriation increase of $250 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of Fifth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. This recommendation is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have a minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.
