TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $1,000, offset by the Second Council District One-time District Priority Funds, transferred from the Citywide Activities Department, to provide a donation to CityHeART to support HeART of the City 2022, which was held on April 28, 2022; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $1,000, to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
The CityHeART HeART of the City Awards event celebrates honorees who whole-heARTedly love their city and tell its stories, bringing art and community together to raise funds for CityHeART’s Resource Hub, which provides supplemental support services for Veterans, seniors, and families with children who have experienced homelessness. This year’s event was held on April 28, 2022 from 6pm-9pm At the Top above Shannon’s at 201 Pine Ave.
This sponsorship supports an organization that is dedicated to empowering and lifting up individuals and families in need of support. Their Resource Hub is located in West Long Beach at the Villages at Cabrillo, where they offer recreational, educational, and wellness programming. Programming and support like that provided by CityHeART takes time, volunteers, and financial support, and is rightly supported by priority funding.
This matter was reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on April 20, 2022.
FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager Department to provide a contribution of $1,000 to CityHeART to support the HeART of the City 2022, which was held on April 28, 2022. The total appropriation increase in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $1,000 is offset by a decrease of appropriation of Second Council District one-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. The requested action is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and have a minimal impact on meeting other City Council priorities. There is no local job impact associated with the recommendation.
SUGGESTED ACTION
Approve recommendation.
Respectfully Submitted,
CINDY ALLEN COUNCILWOMAN,
