TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $250, offset by the First Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a donation to the Long Beach Public Library Foundation and Friends, Celebrate Our Librarians Event, which will take place on October 16, 2021; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $250 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
The Long Beach Public Library Foundation (Library Foundation) was founded in 1996 and since has raised millions of dollars in support of our Long Beach Public Library. This year, they have partnered with the Friends of the Library to honor our City’s librarians who provide literacy, technological, and educational support to our youth, adults, and elders on a day-to-day basis. This event provides the opportunity to highlight and celebrate all the amazing work our librarians do. The celebration is scheduled to take place on October 16, 2021. This donation is to help offset some of the costs associated with the event and further support the mission of the Library Foundation and Friends.

FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager Department to provide a donation to the Long Beach Public Library Foundation and Friends, Celebrate Our Librarians Event. The total appropriation increase of $250 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of the First Council District One-Time Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department.
