DISCUSSION
On September 11, 2021, at 5:30 PM, the Long Beach Camerata singers will host a free community concert to commemorate the 20th anniversary September 11, 2001. This concert will feature beautiful music, comforting poetry, and hope, and is set at beautiful and peaceful Marine Stadium Park.

This concert is placed in a location that will serve to highlight the City’s beautiful coastline and park spaces, and will take advantage of our pleasant climate to host an evening event. This free concert will be accessible to residents and visitors regardless of their income, and is a good opportunity for the community to come together. The concert will highlight the natural advantages, facilities, and climate of Long Beach, and as such, supporting it with Special Advertising and Promotions funding is appropriate.

As part of the Adopted FY 20 Budget, the City Council allocated $235,000 of Special Advertising and Promotions Fund Group (SAP) funds available to be divided equally between the City Council Districts to be used towards SAP-qualified special events or contributions, managed by the Office of Special Events and Filming in the City Manager Department. This recommendation is requesting that $400 of the Second Council District One-time SAP District Priority Funds be allocated for this special event.

This matter was reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on August 31, 2021.
