TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $460, offset by the Third Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a donation to Children Today for the Annual Third of July Celebration Big Bang on the Bay;

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $460 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department

DISCUSSION

As part of the national celebration of our country’s independency, the Third of July has become an important part of the annual tradition here in Long Beach to recognize Independence Day. In light of the numerous benefits we see to our community as a result of the Big Bang on the Bay, the City should support this positive event and recognize the 245th anniversary of the United States declaring its independence.

This matter was reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on July 1, 2021.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager Department to provide a donation to the Children Today to support their Big Bang on the Bay event. The total appropriation increase in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $460 is offset by a decrease of appropriation of Third Council District one-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. The requested action is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,
