DISCUSSION
On December 19, 2017, the City Council adopted a Resolution authorizing a joint application for the City and AMCAL Multi-Housing, Inc. (AMI), to apply for a loan and grant funding from the State of California Strategic Growth Council and the Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), for the development of the Las Ventanas affordable housing project at 1795 Long Beach Boulevard (Attachment A). Part of the grant work includes sustainable transportation infrastructure, program funds for bicycle and municipal transit related products and services, and transportation-related amenities within the public right-of-way.

The application was successfully awarded in April 2020, and the City and AMI will receive an aggregate amount of $4,496,387 in Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) grant funds for the sustainable transportation work noted above. An agreement between the City and AMI was executed in April 2020, in the amount of $4,496,387.
