TITLE

Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to submit Stipulations with Request for Award for approval by the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, and if so approved, authority to pay 1) $209,162.50 for Stipulations with Request for Award, and also 2) to pay $216.46 per week for a Life Pension thereafter in compliance with the Appeals Board Order for Scott Nishitani.

DISCUSSION

Scott Nishitani has made a claim for injuries allegedly sustained in the course of his employment with the City of Long Beach.  The Economic Development and Finance Committee on April 21, 2020, approved the submission to the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board of Stipulations with Request for Award by the City and Scott Nishitani, based upon 1) an 88% percent disability rating, and 2) a further provision for a Life Pension at the rate of $216.46 per week after the permanent disability has been fully paid.  Finally, there would be a provision for lifetime medical care as may be necessary.

Approve recommendation.
