TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund in the Economic Development Department by $25,000, offset by the Eighth Council District one-time infrastructure funds transferred from the Capital Projects Fund in the Public Works Department to support economic development efforts and corridor improvements in the Uptown Business Improvement District.

DISCUSSION

The Uptown Business Improvement District (UPBI D) was established in 2013 by the property owners of the district, which includes Atlantic Avenue from Market Street to South Street.

The UPBID has been working with the community to provide special services that benefit property by providing a Maintenance Program, a Security Program, and a Marketing Program. The UPBID also assists business and property owners on programs such as facade improvements and events within the district. The property owners within the UPBID are currently in the process of determining to renew the district for an additional 10-year period. The one-time funds will help support the programs and activities of the UPBID.

FISCAL IMPACT

The total appropriation increase of $25,000 in the General Fund ln the Economic Development Department is offset by a transfer of Eighth Council District one-time infrastructure funds from the Capital Projects Fund in the Public Works Department.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,

AL AUSTIN
